Nigerians in Paris (Africans in Paris Parody)

Shot by Dolapo

I can’t believe that an oil spill of BP was cleaned up in less than 5 months and all the people were compensated, while the worst oil spill in the world, is neglected. Simply because this is “Africa” ; it is not in our backyard so it is not our problem.

This oil spill is 2 times bigger than BP. It has been there for 50 years and is still going. It is so big (half the size of Florida) that it will cost 30 years to clean up this mess.  The Royal Dutch Shell, the second largest company in the world, only has to pay 1 billion per year to clean up the mess. They have a profit of 40 billion per year. So what is 1 billion for them?

And if you think this has no impact on your life, think again: the gas flare that has been going on for ages, is burning up a big natural gas source which can be used as a natural energy source. This gas flare is adding, the same amount of Co2 as the whole of Russia or the United states, in your air, our air.

I am ashamed to be Dutch.

every1 failing to realize that we have been dealing with this problem for more than 20yr.now all of a sudden when we are not saying anything about it anymore cause nobody helped when we tryed to do something we are racist against our own people smh

towriteloveonmatildasarms asked these people on facebook were hating on me for not sharing the kony video and all.. and within this hate this guy said "thats sad she doesnt even care about her people" considering that im nigerian, im not south african.. i felt to share because youre nigerian too and people expect africans to be the first people lining up to show "support" for this cause..

Exactly, like this is mad old. I donated to this like 2 years ago or something. And there’s no law stating that you have to support the cause if you’re African. Ive talked about this with people and posted about this on my blog before but it was never a big deal. Everyone suddenly wants to care only after rich oyinbo people tells us too. Abeg

Anonymous asked Do you know about Kony/Invisible Children? Why haven't you posted about it? You're Tumblr famous and can help get the word around.

  1. Yes I do
  2. Because I don’t feel like it. I’m not obligated to.
  3. For the millionth time, I’m NOT “Tumblr Famous”
  4. Im pretty sure everyone and their mother’s knows about who Kony is by now.

I’ve heard of invisible children before (had a friend that was some how involved with the org) and the glimpses of critique I’m seeing via tumblr has me wondering why charity organizations don’t actually go to the root of the problem or why they dont LISTEN (There’s the fucking word again) to the PEOPLE directly affected by the problem more. It reminds me of things that I heard about how the MILLIONS that went to Haiti, didn’t actually get to Haiti and how 2 years later, victims of that quake are STILL in tent cities, the rubble is still there, the rebuilding and the so-called aid we sat through so-so performances through, texted the hell out of a number for and the rest of it - that the majority of that money didn’t get to Haiti and what got to them doesn’t seem to be making real progress. It’s 2 yrs later, I’m sure alot of that money is long gone but I digress…
I digress because it seems like the same thing or something similar is going on here as I see stuff just in passing (TL;DR kinda shit, my bad and feel free to respond with links and what not, I been kinda offline today).
It just seems like they mean well but it’s not doing much in making bad situations any better…

Tanzanians with Albinism Hunted

Tanzania is said to be, “the worst place to be born with Albinism.” Those born with it, are in immediate danger because of the constant hunt for their limbs to be used for witch-craft. It’s a sad unknown reality.

An Ode To My Country: Nigeria

The giant of Africa they call you,

Your people mixed and diverse,

Your scent an aromatic brew,

The land a protective nurse.

Cuisines of enticing taste,

A zesty kick on my tongue,

A feast to delight the palate.

Speech of harmonious pace,

Dialects beautifully strung,

Nature’s own palette.

Climate like heaven’s own space,

Elements of rain, sun sprung,

Envelope of air soft as a pallet,

The giant of Africa you are.
